Oxford vs. Harvard

If you had a chance to go to either Oxford or Harvard, where would you go and why?

Probably Harvard. Great Britain is a nice place but I don’t see myself living there for several years.

harvard because british accents get annoying after awhile

Oxford. Harvard isn’t as good as it used to be.

Harvard; I wouldn’t want to have to deal with going all the way over to England and I’d probably get thrown out after a week for doing a terrible British accent impersonation anyways.

Oxford.

I live near Harvard, the yuppies and radical liberals can get to you after a while.

(I’m basically a grumpy 60 year old man in a 17 year old girl’s body)

Harvard – some really good places to get clam chowder around there in Boston (pretty much all I ate while I was up there for the Harvard debate tourney).

… I like food.

^ you know it brotha

Oxford, because they don’t have general ed requirements (does Harvard? I don’t know) and I pretty much already know what I want to major in.
And I think it’s crazy how old it is.

Harvard

…because I can take classes at MIT.

Oxford, because of the tutorial system (and no TAs!). Also, the students @ Ox typically like their subject and tend to compete more with themselves. My impression of students @ Harvard is that (on average) they are more externally competitive than those at Ox.

As much as I’d love to come to the US, Oxford would trump any university there.
I guess it’s partly because I have personal connections to Oxford, but it is also such a beautiful and old place that it’s hard not to want to be there. And there’s the difference between the fees…
