Oxford

I am junior in high school lookin to apply to Harvard University and The University of Oxford. I have some questions about Oxford. Where would I take my admission test for entrance to the Engineering and Sciences college? There don't seem to be any testing centers near where I live. Also, who interviews you? Is it an alumni or someone from the admission office? Btw I am American so I would be applying as an international student to Oxford. If anybody knows these answers it would be greatly appreciated because it is confusing on their website.

Anyone? I really am confused.

I think the answers to your questions are on Oxford’s website. They have a whole section on international applicants.

So, you need to do a little more homework. For a start, there is no engineering and sciences college at Oxford. There are 38 colleges, most of which offer most subjects (but not all). There is no subject by that name either. If you are serious about going to Oxford you need to be prepared to do more of your own research- there is no “admissions department” that is going to hand-hold you through the process. Start by researching the exact subject that you want to study on the Oxford web site. It will tell you what test you need to take for that subject. You may have to organize a test center for yourself if there isn’t one you can get to.

You will also find out what tests scores you are likely to need. If you are a junior shooting for Harvard, I am going to assume that you will have at least 3 APs / subject tests ((with scores of 5 /high 700s) that are relevant to your subject completed by the end of this school year, but if not get that organized ASAP.

The international aspect is relevant only in terms of your qualifications (which are not rated as highly as A levels). Beyond that, Oxford doesn’t really care. They want people who love their subject as much as they do, and who show a lot of promise in that field.

As to whether alums or admissions interviews you- even asking this question shows that you truly have not done the minimum investigation in to Oxford, which makes me think that you are a trophy hunter (Only Harvard or Oxford for me!), not a serious applicant.
