So I have pretty much narrowed it down to these two colleges.

Both are the same costs (Although some of my aid from Oxy is in the form of loans).

Both are still expensive but godbless my parents for saving and affording me the oppurtunity to go to a school which fits me even if it is 10,000 more then an instate school.

So here is my question...which one?

I'm planning on studying International Relations/World Affairs with a minor in economics.

I live about 60 miles from DU.

I'm really worried about travel to and from Oxy and all of that stress. But I really want to be independent and just go....and not cling to my parents anymore.

is the transition to Oxy smooth for most out of state students? I just do not want to be overwelmed.

Basically I'm split 50/50 right now and have no idea where to do from here....

pretty sure oxy wins here, especially if you plan on world affairs (Oxy’s DWA major is renowned). i could be wrong, but i think oxy has a stronger academic reputation. it’s also a lot smaller, so overall i think you’ll get a better education.

i’m not a current student, but i think the transition is okay. colorado isn’t too far from LA anyway (so you can be independent while not on the other side of the country).

There’ll never be a better time in your life to sample a different part of the country, SunnyD. Or so I tell my Oxy-bound daughter, even as I gulp a little at the distance from MN to CA!

Remember that modern technology helps keep college students in much closer touch with home than in your parents’ era.

Oxy is a VERY special school, my S has thrived. Oxy is very close to the Burbank airport which is much easier to handle than LAX. Denver to Burbank is a pretty easy flight. Good luck!
