Oxy vs USC

What are the pros and cons of going to each for a premed biology major? USC looks to cost about $15k per year and Oxy will come out to around $13k per year. Any thoughts or advice, particularly on grade inflation and competitiveness? Thanks!

bump?

I heard that Oxy has terrific pre-med advising so if med school is your ultimate goal, Oxy might be better.

I think they’re both great options now to have. USC and Oxy have very different feels to them. USC is more preppy and has a nickname “University of spoiled children”. The campus surrounding USC is rather scary (think…watts riots). That said, I think they do an amazing job and offer a larger campus and student body but still feeling somewhat intimate. I thought the campus was beautiful and cleaner than Disneyland which is quite a feat considering it’s surrounded by a rough neighborhood.

Oxy does have great pre-med advising and is a more left-leaning campus than USC. It’s slightly more quirky and has a slightly artsy feel to it. It’s smaller and more intimate. I think academically it’s comparable. While the area around Oxy is also urban I feel it is somewhat safer than USC (but caution is still needed).
