So I'm taking Hist C187 and am finding it a lot more difficult that I anticipated with the readings. I'm worried about how I will do in the class so I'm thinking of not making it for a letter grade. I really don't know what to do in the situation I'm in because it's somewhat late for me to hop into another class and catch up.

The thing is, I'm only taking 13.5 units (Chem, Math, Hist, a decal, and PE). The decal is already P/NP so if I take my Hist P/NP that means I have 6.5 units of my courseload P/NP. I'm a freshman, btw. (I know.. why did a freshman take a UD?! To be fair, it is a discovery course)

The class isn't a requirement for my intended major. Should I not worry so much about P/NP it? I'm thinking about applying to med/grad school. I'm going to wait a few days before the deadline (after I get back my first midterm) to make a decision to P/NP the class.

you should be fine taking a few classes p/np in your frosh year since you dont need that particular class for med school or your major…just dont get into that habit as an upperclassmen because you can only take 30% or so of your classes p/np.

the only bad thing is that if you get close to a 4.0 next semester, you cant get on the deans list since i think it requires you to have taken 13 letter-graded units the previous semester (for l&s at least)

What’s the point of getting on the Dean’s List? You should be focused on getting a good GPA rather than getting the recognition for a (potentially worse) GPA. Other than bragging rights, I don’t see how the Dean’s List itself helps…
