P/NP for Grad school applications.

So I am Junior who just took up a "double major status" in both Political Science and Economics. I'm currently studying abroad and took an economics course as P/NP (theoretically, this class is transferrable to my home university and counts towards my major). I say theoretically because it's still unclear as to whether or not this course will transfer.

The odd thing is that in order to take this economics class at my home university, I would've needed to enroll in prerequisite classes (which I have yet to complete). Yet, somehow I was able to enroll in the "same class" while taking courses abroad.

In any case, and with no further ado, here is my ultimate dilemma....will a NP on my transcript affect my chances in applying for grad schools? Or from another angle...how will grad schools look upon a NP on a transcript?

Thanks in advance.

Side note: The class is part of the curriculum in my major, and I'm not really sure how I was approved to take class as P/NP. I have every intention of clearing this up with an advisor from my home university....I am just discussing it here for venting purposes =)

You took this pass/fail and failed it?

NP implies that you got a D or F, right? Can’t look good.

Also, isn’t taking courses for your major P/NP usually not allowed, other than small P/NP-only courses.
