I was looking at last year’s BCT schedule and see that almost daily there is Physical Training (PT) or Physical conditioning. What types of activities are done during these times? Are there differences between the PT/Phys. cond. during 1st and 2nd BCT.

if we knew, wouldn't that take the joyous suprise out of things? lol ;)

The Cadre are going to build up their stamina and get them used to being over a mile high and prepare them for the challenges of second BCT. They will be well taken care of and pushed to their limits. Some will have trouble and others will thrive on the prolonged periods of front leaning rest, etc.

alternates one day running, one day pt (pushups, crunches, etc) each morning.

BCT PT really isn't that difficult. It's the other... "extracurricular" activities that make Basic so fun! ;)

Is there actually live firing with your weapon? I know you carry it around, but do you do firearms training? Or is that taken as a class?

they give us real m-16s to carry round during basic.

Jus kiddin. ;)

They do have live fire and qualify out at Jack's during the second half of BCT. Many of the 2010 and 2011 CCer's are now in transit to their summer programs, some outside of CONUS.

You're right on, Gasdoc. I just got to my ops base in Barksdale. It's hot and sunny and beautiful out here! :)

You will go to CATM (the firing range in Jack's Valley) one morning during 2nd BCT and you will be allowed to fire M-16s.

There is PT every morning during basic, but it's not really that challenging. The hard part comes in the form of beat sessions.

Just spoke to Petko....he's starting to get settled at Eglin. It sounds much better than the first day of GE.

Eglin is awesome. :D

And redhead, the Academy is having us do something with Habitat for Humanity next weekend in New Orleans. Are you guys going to be there too? Have you heard anything?
