i'm trying to decide between cornell, barnard and lehigh/drexel, i dont know anyone in the program and i dont know much about it! I was wondering if anyone could tell whether you could apply our or anything else about the program! I'm really confused..i love barnard i love the city and i'm willing to work hard as an undergrad..i'm a little intimidated by cornell but i don't want to regret passing up this 7 year.. i've poseted this beofre but no one seems to know specifics about the program!! any general advice would also be appreciated

I think it depends on your confidence level. If you are confident that you will be able to succeed in Cornell, that is probably your best choice. I know pre-med there is extremely rigorous and would prepare you the best for a top notch medical school.

I don't know too much about Barnard so I'll leave that for others to talk about.

Finally, I do know some students in the Lehigh/Drexel program and it seems to be pretty solid too. If you are certain you want to be a doctor, that program will be the quickest and more relaxing way to do so. 7 year programs typically have less competition among students, a friendlier atmosphere among the students, and a pass/fail type mcat situation. (I believe for lehigh/drexel it is 27 to pass whereas if you went to just an undergrad, you would want at the very minimum a 30)

Drex is also 30 if u dont score atleast a 9 on all the sections. And most people hav a difficult time scoring atleast a 9 on the verbal.

that's odd...I found the verbal section to be the easiest

no studying involved!!

maybe ur just special, the avg. scores for verbal reasoning are consistantly lower then the avg. scores for physical and biological sciences.

bump =-) i really need help!

Sima: What do you want to do in life. IF you are more than 100% sure about MD then proceed with MD program. Key issue is the prestige and UG life. Drexel program is ranked about 100 out of 120 schools, that is why it trying to lock up talented high schooler through Lehigh( ranked 35 uni). typically most L/D folks will get NYU, Tuft, BC etc. . Ever wonder why Harvard, JHU and Penn do not offer 7 year, they attract best applications at MD level. Lehigh wants boos its SAT/GPA so it uses Drexel MD, Penn Dental hook. So schools are looking for their own interest. The key question: would go to Lehigh for UG if that was one of the option with out dual degree. If you are smart motivated you will get MD in good place if you come out of a good program.Cornell has 80% placement in MD applicants. typically 230 apply.Any above 3.4 and 30+mact rate is close to 90%. So if you 3.4 and 30 from Cornell you will get medschools 30-60 ranked 60-80%. Ranked 70+ you have 100% chance. if you get 3.3 and 27, you may gey some third tier med school or osteopath program. But for life you will have an Ivy education and connection.

thanks a lot =-) i am going to visit schools next weekend but i think i'm going to try to pick the one i feel most comfortable with rather than being completely motivated by the 7 yr thing.. i am almost 100% sure i want to be a doctor but hopefully i'll be ablke to make it even from these other ug's
