PACE/transfer program information

I talked with someone at UT and she said that students have priority in order: internal then PACE then external. She then said that PACE students are auto-admitted with min requirements to UGS or liberal arts. The day before I had talked with someone who said nearly the exact opposite: auto admit to liberal arts only and PACE are competing against external/internal.

I also found on this website a lot of other information like this but varying a little in detail.
Exactly who are PACE students competing against and what are they auto-admitted to?

(I did try to contact the sole person in charge of PACE and the guy said it’s all indeterminate) Could this be true?

apparently UGS is no longer a major people can transfer into unless they are in PACE/CAP this year so for 2014-2015 people its available but not for others

I’ve been repeatedly told that this year, PACE students are only auto-admit to lib arts and not UGS

The PACE Program appears to be a “work in progress.” There is really no ‘sole person’ in charge of PACE. The admissions office does not have control over how PACE is/will be administered. Admissions is probably not the best source for information on how transfers into the majors will work. The 2014-2015 PACE group will be the first full group that is going through this. This group is currently in the process of applying to their first choice majors. They will find out in July. To answer your question about what is/will be open for auto admit, there is no ‘written policy’ that has been provided for the 2015-16 group that I am aware of. Liberal Arts (with a couple of exceptions) has been extended as the guaranteed college. UGS is not a major. A student can only be in UGS for two years then must select and apply to transfer into a major for their junior year. UGS is a great place for ‘undecided’ students who are still exploring their interests.
As uncertain as this all appears, PACE is a great option for those who want UT Austin as their first choice. For hopeful engineering, natural science, and business majors PACE is still a big unknown option. Statistics on how this turns out for the 2014-15 group will be known in July. For those going into Liberal Arts it is a win-win.
