Pace University bfa acting- phone interview!

Has anyone that auditioned for Paces bfa acting program had or received info about a phone interview. I know last year they did interviews through the phone shortly after auditions if they were interested but their whole audition process has changed so I was just curious If you guys had any info on this ?

Itzkatie—Pace has been either unwilling or unable to respond to posts or messages on CC for the last 10 days. They have created some confusion related to their audition process, especially the prescreen “requirement.” You might be able to track someone down with a phone call directly to their performing arts department, but I wouldn’t bet money on it. Good luck!

Yes, they are doing phone interviews. My S had a phone interview a week or 2 ago, which was about 2 weeks after his audition. He has been invited for a second phone interview.

so no phone interview means you didnt get in??

also did our S get a movement callback at the audition?

New to this site. S auditioned Feb 3 in NYC. He got a movement callback and an email Wed the 6th requesting a phone interview. He interviewed the following week and it seemed to go well. No request for a second phone interview.

Welcome to this site TNMAMA hope you find this helpful.
Can you tell us which program your son auditioned for?

BFA Acting only but he is interested in film BFA they mentioned as well. They said all BFA Acting auditioners would be considered for both.

If you don’t get a phone interview does that mean you’re not being considered for an Acting or Film BFA?

I’m not sure, but they told my S in the callback that the “unpublished” next step would be a phone interview . . . so it probably means you are safer if you get the phone interview but I am not positive you are out of consideration if you don’t.

yes, D got a phone call from Pace related to her BA international performance ensemble audition the week before she got her in mail acceptance…she has now spoken to one other applicant who got the same phone call.Has anyone with non BA candidates gotten into the BFA programs there yet?
Also…throwing question out here for anyone else with a Hartt vs, Rider (actor training) opinion.thanks!

Pace still has one more audition day so there’s no way they could have made all their decisions yet. Keeping hope!!!

Also at my on campus audition I was told that whether or not you got a movement call didn’t mean anything ? Anyone know anything on that ?

The impression we were given was that no callback for MT at the audition meant you were cut. Although you could still get in without a movement callback in theory, one of the students I spoke with said that getting the callback indicated a higher likelihood of getting in. She told me of the 30 kids in the current freshman BFA Acting program, only one had not gotten a callback at his audition. Not trying to be a downer but wanting to see more is usually a good sign. I have not heard of any BFA acceptances yet. The only remaining audition is for transfer students, according to a current student so that might not affect class of 2017 acceptances.

At my audition, they made it clear that not receiving a movement callback meant you were no longer under consideration for BFA Acting, but could still be in the running for BA Acting if you expressed interest.

Wow this is an interesting thread! I’m all turned around so I don’t even know how I fit in here lol.
Okay, well I did a walk-in audition at chicago unifieds and received a movement callback. I was then told to upload my monologues onto Acceptd. Since i’ve uploaded my goods… i received a generic email saying that I got a callback and I needed to attend another audition. I emailed Wayne Petro, the recruitment coordinator, and he said that I apparently don’t need to attend another audition and they just did it backwards for the walk-in callback people.
ANYWAY. My newest question is… should I disregard the recent callback email? I wanna have a phone interview :P

My thought is, if you really want to go to this place, don’t disregard the callback e-mail. It will give you another chance to show off for these folks, and show them that you are really serious about attending their school!

(I’m not sure I understand exactly what happened, however)

KEVP

I believe there are no more callbacks to attend they follow up with phone interviews, but, since they changed to the prescreens everything seems a little confused.

wow…so is my daughter and her recently made friend ,the only 2 people who uploaded…got a callback on campus plus movement callback and phone interview for BA international performance ensemble???
and yes…it was made clear that you had to inform the staff if you did NOT get a BFA movement call back that you wanted be considered for BA…BUT the BA kids who did not get a movement callback were told they could be considered for a newly emerging BFA in TV, Film and voice over that has not yet been approved by NY state. all I know is that everything seems very vague for anyone awaiting BFA acceptances…my sincere empathy…we are still considering all our D’s choices. Good luck everyone!!!

Some people have phone interviews others may not. NO ONE has a 2nd phone interview for the same program. He might be getting an interview for another program. The phone interview is a goos sign but it is not an indication that you have been accepted. While many students will be granted interviews others might not and could still be accepted.
