some phone interviews are still being scheduled.

I have a question if you do not get a callback for movement in the Acting program are you out of consideration for BFA andBA, also what is this new BFA Film program I have seen it mentioned only on CC?

My daughter auditioned last Saturday at Pace and did not get in but was admitted to the university. She was told she could reaudition next year. I would like her to attend Pace.

Hi everyone,

I am unable to reply to direct messages because CC requires me to make 15 posts first - I think I’m getting close to that quota.

No official decisions for any program have been made, or will be made, until all auditions for that program have ended. For all programs except BFA Commercial Dance, the last audition is March 2nd. Then begins the task of making final decisions and preparing the official communication that will be mailed out in around March 15.

Only BFA Musical Theater and BFA Acting auditions have a callback ON the audition day. These callbacks are used by our faculty as a next step in the process, and it is a likely indicator of what the ultimate decision will be for that program. No decision, however, is considered final until the official letter arrives in the mail. Yes - students have been admitted or waitlisted without getting a callback in the past.

Yes - some of the program heads need to make follow up phone calls to candidates, but this is not necessarily an indicator of a “yes” or “no” decision. This phone follow-up conversation is really just a chat that our faculty do if they need to learn something more about the candidate. The phone call is an excellent example of the extent in which our faculty go to make the most informed decision possible in seeking the most appropriate candidates for our programs.

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer these questions.
Of all of the auditions we have been to, Pace was the most organized, the most welcoming to parents, most hospitable to parents some of us who were there from 9 am until 5 pm providing us with bagels and coffee the entire day and even access to a cafeteria. Informed current students floated around and gave further information and spoke individually with whomever was interested. Whoever has answered the phone upon any of our phone calls handled all questions professionally and congenially. My D was most happy at the way the current students and the faculty interacted with her and had a blast. The information session allowed us to meet all the faculty and hear the dedication and passion that each had about their programs. If my D is not fortunate to be offered a spot this year, I have a feeling we will be trying again. We have no complaints.

Anyone heard from Pace??

My son got a call yesterday inviting him to BFA Acting program.

Itzkatie – sorry don’t have enough posts to respond to private messages. Called and told letter coming later this month.

PacePerfArts- Have acting calls been made?

I know of 2 people who received Acting acceptances this week

smartcooky6, do you know anything more about the new BFA in TV/Film/Voiceover that may be starting at Pace?

Anyone else heard from Pace BFA Acting?

My D got called back all the way through and REALLY wants Pace as her #1. She’s gotten into Marymount and is super excited about that but just loved the Pace program from top to bottom.

Anyone know if it`s definitely a call then the letter or if the letter just comes for most? Couldn’t really tell by PacePerfArts if getting called back meant that you were good to go. You coy little…

Also wondering if the rejections have gone out yet.

Thanks all. I don’t know how anyone makes it through this process - least of all, our D.

Hi threed,
the announcement was made to us on Feb 2 at auditions " Pace is trying to start a new BFA program in TV, Film and voice over…if your child is interested in this program, have them let someone on the panel know after their audition. We are currently waiting for state approval to go ahead with this intended major." this is verbatim from Wayne Petro., A nice guy with lots of enthusiasm for the growth of Pace. It is my sincere feeling that Pace is anxious to admit good students to the university with hopes of having them move to the newer programs.
We were offered a nice financial aid package, but with two sons in college, I believe we will will have to decline our D’s spot, as it will still be over 35k a year to attend.
Congrats to all the Pace accepted kids and their parents. TNMAMA, will your son accept???

I wish there was more clarity on what the “no phone call” means.

Our D was one of a few called back for movement but we haven’t had a phone call. PacePerfArts said that “some” department heads feel the need for a phone call. Does that mean that she was such a slam dunk that they had no doubt? Or did she miss the cut?

It’s been said unequivically that the absence of the phone call doesn’t mean she’s not in but what does it mean? Is she on the teetering on the edge or a shoe-in?

What a roller-coaster.

smartcooky6 We appealed our financial aid amount and are waiting to see how much more we can get. We too are at over $35k with only the initial and generous merit amount that came with academic acceptance offered so far. The result of our appeal will determine our acceptance. Praying hard!

TNMAMA, where else did your S get accepted? good luck…wish we could give him our D’s 20k…
HDPARKER…hope your D gets a call…ours was a surprise because they talked to my daughter at her callback for A LONG time about the new BFA in film, theatre and voice over…so she figured she was not even being considered for the international performance ensemble. It really comes down to money for us, now.
Threed—let me know what you think…

Thanks smartcookie. I’m not hopeful, though. Still no call and a conversation with someone in the recruitment office offered little to hope for. Basically, the feeling was that if you don’t get a call, you didn’t get in.

So now we’re hoping for the BA acceptance or it’ll be Marymount.

Hdparker,

Marymount might be less money then Pace, making a wonderful option for a kid who wants to spend 4 years in the city. The location is also a plus. I know that when my son and I toured the admissions rep said that they stack merit.

Yeah, MMC has some real benefits from a logistical and financial standpoint. Her grandparents live about 8 blocks from the place and the money is a lot better, I think. She also has a friend who is a junior MT BA there.

I just wonder about the quality of the program. Not sure why, though. I’ve read good and bad about both programs. Ironically, she felt MUCH better about her auditions at Pace and considered her audition at MMC a total bomb. Funny how that works.

The worst thing I’ve heard about MMC is that there are little opportunities for roles. On second thought, maybe that’s part of the training - getting kids accustomed to the difficulties of landing a role. lol.

I, personally, really wanted our D to be accepted in the new BFA (professional acting) at Pace. I mean, isn’t the entire point to be a working actor?

She’ll be really bummed about Pace but at least she has good options.

Has anyone seen the course descriptions for Pace’s new acting for TV and film BFA? I’d want to make sure my kid was getting a nice amount of acting technique, movement and voice as well as on camera training.

Being in front of the camera might be cool and fun, but being there without learned acting skills that enable an actor to bring layers to the role making it engaging is more important. I hope there is more to it then learning what action, cut and other lingo mean.
