Pace University - General questions

How many audition fir the acting/fvtc major? How many pass their prescreen? Does anyone know this information? Let me know if you do, thanks!

Pace has A LOT of applicants. It was really impossible to get an exact number with this school. They were really quick to notify on our pre-screen though. Not sure of specific number of students auditioned either, but would estimate that they likely audition 400 at least and perhaps that many for both programs etc. I do know that the actual audition is pretty rigorous with monologue and then a scene assignment with a partner and a 45 minute window to dial it in and present. If you are auditioning for both Acting and FVTC, you will be filmed during this time as well. My S auditioned in 2018 and there were so many kids at the afternoon audition(LA Unifieds). At the end of that slot, only 10 were called back. At that time, they will do a movement piece and then you will be released. If you do not get a final call back at your slot, you are no longer being considered for the program. Acceptances go out in March via a personal phone call.

PACE is very selective. Despite it’s overall 80% acceptance, the performing arts program acceptance is >10%. At my S auditioned at NYC campus and he was the only one selected from his group that day. The good news is, if you’re cut the first round, you know you didn’t make it into the program and can move on. If applying for all programs, be prepared to stay there all day; it was a long day.
