Well I am officially going nuts right now, I did two semesters at NYIT and then transferred to Nassau Community College. I then graduated from NCC with an associates degree. I plan to continue in college to get my BS in Finance. I was recently accepted to both Pace university in Manhattan and St. John's University in Queens. I live on longisland, NY FYI... I recently had my credits evaluated from Pace and they mailed me a worksheet with my major on it and the classes I needed to take, Pace accepted a total of 69 credits towards my BS degree. Now one thing about pace is that it is expensive and I will be dorming there about $50,000 a year with dorming, whereas SJU is only $32,000 and I will commute as its only 20mins from my house. Now SJU accepted a total of 54 credits towards my BS degree. That right there is the difference. School's almost starting and I have yet decided whether to attend either school. I am meeting with an advisor from SJU this thursday, and an advisor from Pace next week. I would most likely have to stay longer at SJU than at Pace, and thats a maybe because they just told me how many credits they were accepting and didn't send me any worksheet as Pace did....What would you guys do in my situation??

Sounds like they sorta equal out in the end - one is more expensive yet faster, the other less expensive but may require an extra semester.

I would lean toward the local one with commute - because if for any reason you can not finish your degree in 2 years flat at Pace it would be prohibitively expensive to continue there.

This advice of course changes if you find details about length of time to completion at either school OR other factors besides money are an important factor.

i’m surprised you didn’t apply to any SUNYs or CUNYs to be perfectly honest. i don’t think it’s worth that much money for those schools. can you wait another semester and apply to baruch or something?

well ya I did apply to baruch, but i didn’t get accepted with my 3.2 gpa attached to the degree

hmm… would it be better to keep taking classes at ncc and then applying to more sunys/cunys in the city or on long island?

what good will keep taking classes at ncc, if i don’t even know if they’ll transfer or not…maybe I could try reapplying to Baruch for the spring 2011, see how that goes…

ok quick bump, Wat do you guys think of Suny Old Westbury?? It is much cheaper, but do you guys think I would even be able to find a job a finance degree from them? Should I pass on Pace and just do Suny?

i don’t think pace’s business/finance department is one that would make employers’ eyes pop, so you might as well not spend a fortune.

ok but would it be any better then suny old westbury or even c.w. post…??

Old Westbury isn 't really “known” like Baruch is for business
Pace and C.W. post is a waste of money.

It would have been easier for you if you were in the CUNY system. You would have been able to cross register at any CUNY school. So even though you weren’t accepted to Baruch you would have still been able to take courses towards your degree.

Honestly, I would suggest you stay at ncc and take more classes then re-apply to Baruch.

When you applyed to Baruch did you list it as your #1 choice?
