New York City the number one place I want to go for college. I have a list of colleges in nyc (fordham, nyu, the new school, cuny hunter) I'm going to apply to and I'm considering adding Pace to give me one more chance to make it to new york for college.

However, I don't want to waste my time and money applying is PACE isn't that great of a school. I've done some research and it doesn't seem like it's THAT bad of a school, but when I hear everyone's opinions on it, they seem to be kinda negative towards the school. What are your opinions of PACE?

I visited Pace last year, and I loved it.
Its in a great location in New York City… and they really do seem to challenge you academically.
As far as reputation, I wouldn’t say it has a bad one…
Personally, after visiting a bunch of schools in NYC, including the New School and NYU, it was my favorite.

Heres my input on the other schools…

Fordham: I knew someone who went there that transferred because they felt as though the school was forcing opinions upon him. I wouldn’t know first hand, but, be cautious.

The New School: Nice in theory. However, the campus/buildings aren’t very pleasing, and it has a VERY, and I mean VERY liberal/alternative scene. If this fits you, great. If not, I would think twice.

CUNY-Hunter: I did not see it personally. But I’ve never heard any negative remarks.

I attended Pace’s Plesantville campus, and am now a graduate student at Columbia. Pace certainly doesn’t have the reputation of Columbia or NYU, but it is not a bad place. They have great faculty, and offer many opportunities. Having said that, the Pleasantville campus is much nicer than the NYC campus. They just spent $20 million to renovate their science building in Pleasantville, but the labs in the city are very old. The school just got a new president (he’s a big shot–Steven Friedman–look him up), and he’s making a lot of good changes. Pace will never be Harvard, but they are slowly improving their student body, faculty and facilities. Out of 4 people that worked in my lab at Pace, 3 of us went to top ten grad schools.

As for the other schools:

Hunter is a city university and will definitely have a different student body from all of the other schools that you mentioned. The other schools are much more expensive, and will probably have students from wealthier families [and may like to go out and spend money as if it grows on trees].

Fordham: Has a pretty good reputation, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about the students who go there. My friend who went there thought that most of the people were very stuck-up. It’s also in a very bad neighborhood in the Bronx.

New School: A friend of mine who went there, and then transferred, told me that the student body is ‘very interesting’ to say the least. Other than that, I don’t know much about the school.

NYU: Has a very good reputation, and is more difficult to get into than the other schools you mentioned. NYU is considered a top university, while the rest are just decent schools (I’m sure all of them would offer you a quality education).

Overall, if you’re applying to Cuny Hunter and the New School, I don’t think you would be wasting your money applying to Pace. It’s not that bad, and it’s getting better every year.

PACE IS TERRIBLE, horrible teachers, horrible classes where you learn absolutely nothing! I’m a second semester freshman student and i can say that this school has made me dumber. I’m transfering to Baruch CUNY asap (better imo) and if by any chance you chose to go to this **** school then DORM by all means!
