Package delivery and storage?

Hi, another question for you longtime Fordhamites (LC). We're from California, so it's going to be a trial getting stuff over to the dorm. Does LC have a way to receive a shipped box of bedding and stuff and store it until student arrives? Is there a private service near there that does it? Has anyone used Collegeboxes?

We were at rh and just sent the boxes. The mail room held onto them. We timed it so they would get there the day before we did. Lc probably does the same.

We are from ncal so I understand the logistical issues. There is a bed bath and beyond about four blocks away. Its always packed with lc students.

It was worth bringing duffle bags in check in for linens etc on the plane.

We used Collegeboxes at RH. Now I thought it was fine but my daughter did not like it and gave the following reasons. Delivery was scheduled on a choice of 2-3 days after start of school. Your selection was based on dorm assignment. They call you (must give a phone #) before they plan on coming or maybe when they are there, and than you must be at the dorm to accept delivery. She was at Freshman orientation those days and was on pins and needles about missing the delivery. As it turned out they did not call and ended up leaving it in the room of a dormsperson who was ditching orientation. She did not immediately discover this and was frantically calling collegeboxes. The next day the dormsperson who had her boxes knocked on her door to inform her of this. Lots of confusion. She headed out there the week before school start for her other program on her own so she was a bit overstressed. I personally thought it was a pretty good deal.

I don’t know how much storage space they have, you’d probably have to call and ask. I do also think that having that Bed Bath and Beyond close by is great. Shop and buy whatever you want at your local store, and it will be waiting for you in NY when you get there.
