packing clothes!

so i'm going to be headed off to college in a few days for the first time and i started packing my clothes but im not sure if i've packed too much. i going to minnesota and i'm 6 hours away so i wont be going home often and will need both warm and cold clothes. i've packed one small rolling suitcase thing, a duffel bag, and then a small box with sweatshirts and jeans. is this too much? if it is, how do i cut down on the clothes? is there a good way to store them?

No, that is not too much.

oh man. im going to have soo much more than that

So.. I'm a guy, and I definitely have at least that amount.

thats good to hear. i was really worried that i was going to show up to my dorm and my roommate was going to look at me like i was crazy when she saw all off my clothes! so how are all of you guys planning on storing your clothes?

tupperware bins, stuff them underneath the beds

hopefully they give you some drawers and a closet in your room too...

My dorm has a wardrobe with 3 drawers below. I got a shoe/misc organizer for the wardrobe door and will probably find a plastic bin that fits in there to put more clothes in.

youre fine.. thats much MUCH less than what i have. i was able to fit everything on one 4ft wooden bar, and 2 drawers under the bed. and im a girl with clothes for all four seasons..

BRING WARM CLOTHES! I'm a sophomore at U of M (grew up in Madison 5 hrs away, so I feel your pain with the distance), and you never know when a cold spell is going to come out of no where. If you grew up in the cold climate, then disregard my message...er, sorta. If you don't plan on going home until thanksgiving bring warm clothes. It has been known to snow before then, and you would be pretty uncomfortable without at least a fall coat and a good stash of sweatshirts.

And now that I just reread your user name, yay U of M! You are going to love it! :)

yeah...I'm bringing like 7 large moving boxes of clothing. I hope that isn't a problem...

I think I only have one suitcase filled with clothes for all four seasons... But I cheated. xD I used those plastic bags that you suck the air out of with a vaccum. Then I put the plastic bags in my suitcase. I was able to fit my comforter, pillow, and sheets all in another suitcase thanks to those plastic bags.

yeah i sooo want to get those space bags. thats not cheating, thats being smart hahha

I got them at Bed Bath Beyond. You can fit a LOT of stuff into one bag.
