Packing for Indoc?

<a href="http://www.bargainoutfitters.com%5B/url%5D">www.bargainoutfitters.com</a></p>

Great price on Under Armour. Approved by three mom's.

Wow that 12 pairs each of the white stuff adds up. Not to mention how heavy it is when packed. Good thing they can't take much.. couldn't carry it all. ha

What only 55 days till reporting day!

i was happy with only 3 pairs of compression shorts... you can wash them out in your sink...

Thank you KP10, that is son's plan too. The T's, socks and other shorts still add the weight on. Whew!

When loggin states to bring street shoes does it mean another pair of tennis shoes or casual shoes. I hear if you are in clubs or teams you need some street clothes to take with you. How many sets do you all recommend?

i didnt bring out any civies for indoc, i brought out a couple pair after thanksgiving. we arnt really supposed to have civies in our rooms but thats besides the point. on TM's you are supposed to wear accademy issue stuff, but sometimes the rules are bent... for street shoes just bring the ones you come in. WEAR TENNIS SHOES!!!

Is there a need to bring an iron to indoc or can you purchase one on campus?

No need for the iron at first. Later on, you can send one or he can get one at the ship's store.

drugstore.com you can get all that junk for a good price. and i think if you spend over 50 dollars shipping is free

a great thing for packinng (although it doesn't cut the weight) are the Vacuum storage bags to put everything in, sure they're only used for the trip up since chances are he won't be able to get his hands on a vacuum to reuse them for trips home, but the fact is, for indoc you have to bring a lot of stuff and you don't have a lot of room, these cut down on size dramatically and they're not very expensive either.

is2day, thats one of the best ideas ever. Son used these that are rolled by hand to get the air out. He also used them again for sea year packing.

<a href="http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_10/602-7085005-8743854?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B0009IB6B0%5B/url%5D">http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_10/602-7085005-8743854?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B0009IB6B0</a></p>

Yep they are great! You can either vacuum the air or roll...works super either way.

The vaccum storage idea is awesome. I have sent my son several fans over the years, are they still necessary or all the dorms air conditioned now? He is at sea till mid June and doesn't expect air conditioning when he returns but it would be a nice surprise I'm sure.

i just rolled every thing up and sealed them in zip lock bags and put some packing tape arround it. only problem is with all the white shirts etc. you look like you have a few kilos of coke.

LOL KP10. I can see airport security loving you. They freak out over the sextant let alone a solid white package. Call out the hounds! LOL

oh if you love that... the night before flying out here I couldnt find my wallet. checked all over the house, etc. all i could find was some old out dated passport. so we drove to the DOL to try to get a new ID, of course closed as soon as we got there....so i decided to go ahead and try for the old pass port at the air port. we get up to the line and the TSA lady was yelling at the lady in front of us about how they had a out dated ID and wouldnt let them in. so as she was yelling at them i flash my out dated pass port and walk by.

turn out the wallet was sitting on the ninja in the garage back at home... the one place i didnt look.

lesson learned TSA SUCKS

I'd recommend packing three extra sets of: undershirts, underwear, and white socks. If the inspection drawers are still the same you need three and can simply use those for the inspection drawers and put the others in the non-inspection drawer for daily use.

the regs on inspection drawers have changed, but chances are they'll change again prior to the new candidates reporting. another good thing to bring, though you won't use them till after indoc is as many pairs of solid black dress socks as you can, you'll be thankful you did later.

i will second what kp2001 said......throughout all the inpsections i've had the same 3 pairs of everything tucked away for inspections and then i just threw everything in a bag for inspections and put the three good pairs in the draws

this year you got docked points if you only had 3 pairs of everything. they want them to be "working" draws, so i'd suggest at least 5 of everything

maybe in your company but we were told to have 3...it all depends on who inpects you

all i know was that we were inspected by someone from band co and they specifically checked to ensure that we had more than 3 of everything, and i asked and they said they want you to be using these drawers so if you only have 3 of everything that's not right, thus you lose points, but whatever.
