Packing question

I have a packing question just for girls. What should i bring with me to college? It's an all girls college so i know that packing is different. Also what should i not bring? The rooms are 13' 8" (long) x 11' 10" (wide)
There are two (2) door-less closets per room, which are 48" deep and 44.5" wide. They are 30" at doorway (except in ground floor rooms where they're 24" at doorway). In triple occupancy rooms a wardrobe is provided as a third closet, in one dorm but the other is 16' x 10' or 16' x 12'
These are the average room sizes in Belle Wisdom Hall. Room size will vary according to location in the building. Closets are door-less and measure 6' x 3' 5". These are the dorm dimensions for both dorms the dorm I'm most likely to get is the first dorm. please help

thanks that did help :)

Girl or not, things like a screwdriver/duct tape/flashlight can be very useful for emergencies or DIY.

I’ll just give my input organization wise - I had open closets my first year - Many people ended up buying the suspension type of rods and hanging them up with cute curtains in front of their closets so they didn’t have to keep it perfectly organized all the time. I would also bring the hanging shoe type of racks - the canvas ones with the little cubby slots. Also- Target/Walmart sell plastic “milk” crates every year in different colors that are easy to stack and great for a closet or under your bed… Oh! And space saver hangers - the super thin felt type. Greatest thing ever.

Like Sunsloth said, duct tape! Also you might want to consider a little toolbox.

Rainboots, Umbrella, and Raincoat.

Those are the three things I severely missed and Columbia floods. :(

My advice is to try to pack lightly. Don’t bring too many clothes that you don’t wear a lot, and this is coming from someone who enjoys getting creative with dress. I didn’t bring a lot of clothes and there are still things I have barely worn and could just leave at home.
One organizational thing I recommend for your closet is a set of plastic drawers. Shoes, you can just place under your bed or on the floor of your closet, so I don’t understand the point in those hanging shoe organizers.
Also, you have more space in your desk than you think. I keep stuff in there like an alarm clock (didn’t even need it because I can use my phone or ipod as an alarm), dryer sheets, a mug, books, binder paper, and more. Bring a desk lamp.
Other stuff to consider: a basket for your toiletries, a laundry hamper, eating utensils, plate, laundry detergent, a printer (coordinate with roommate), printer paper, speakers (maybe coordinate with roommate), bike or longboard, hair dryer (I’m sharing with my roommates), and a pencil case. That’s pretty much all I needed. I also brought some “me” things like a big collage for the wall. My roommates brought stuff like instruments and a record player.

Check with your school about stuff you shouldn’t bring. Most schools have lists of that nature. Also, generally, if it’s not going to all fit in the back of an SUV, it won’t all fit in your room. There are exceptions, but I wouldn’t push it.

I didn’t listen to the advice on here and bought two sets of sheets for her bed. She has only been using one, she has at least washed them. I thought an extra set would be good for an emergency, spill or something on the bed, but they are still in the original packaging.

Clothing wise, try College Fashion. It’s good place to start if you dress averagely (jeans, cardigans, tank tops, etc.). If your style is more out of the box, like mine (I don’t wear pants, love vintage, etc.) it’s less helpful.

ok thanks everyone  does anyone have any other links or anything to add about packing?

A hanging sweater bag can also save a lot of space…you can neatly fold jeans, etc, and use your “hanging” space vertically

At bed bath&beyond there’s a college section on their website with good tips for what to bring
