So I am gettin ready for I-Day and I went shopping today for a pair of good running shoes and a backpack that isnt the single sling… What are some regs on colors? Any specific brands? Any suggestions are appreciated because I have decided to do the shopping online… ;)

Your issued a back pack and shoes.....take nothing!

Y'all have to MATCH, i.e. have the SAME shoes, backpacks, uniforms etc. There is a "look" to the military.

They will issue you a backpack (to be carried by your left hand at all times...and you thought you could carry it on your back...hahahahahaha). You will also be issued shoes, running and otherwise. Just hope and pray they fit.

After basic we can wear whatever running shoes we feel like and the backpack is to get me there, like carry my papers, razor etc. I know they issue us these things but I was told tht once basic was done the shoes aren't a problem...

Yeah, I know I am wearing my running shoes so that I will have them as soon as basic is over. Also, I am planning on bringing a small and light duffel bag to carry my stuff because I think it would be easier to carry something with one handle in my left hand on I-day than it would a backpack.

I am taking my old school backpack, and my trashed track shoes

Your stuff will fit, if you're brave enough to tell them your shoes don't fit when they hand them to you.

Yeah, you'll get issued both a backpack and running shoes. My issued running shoes were in pretty bad condition by the end of basic, so I was pretty happy I brought my normal running shoes from home with me to I-day, since I had them as soon as I was out of basic.

Backpacks are a different story though. Not sure about everyone else, but I didn't get my actual backpack from home back until Thanksgiving leave. You won't need it for school, so I'd just be for stuff like hiking or something like that.
