how bad are the paddyfote dorms at famu because eveyone says they are HORRIBLE :(

Picture this you and your roommate are sitting in your beds and then you guys high five each other from your own bed. Its really small but you build a community there… you get close with the people around you and you have fun.

wow!! im really scared to be living there because idk how bad its gonna be. besides it being miniature, how bad is it really?

If I were you I would join the facebook groups for our class. This is what a student who already attends FAMU said:

PFOTE: THE NEGATIVE IS THAT THE ROOMS ARE WAAAAY TO SMALL ITS NAME FITS THE DESCRIPTION AND BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR THE PFOTE POOPER. THE POSITIVE IS THAT ITS CLOSER TO THE CAFE AND LIBRARY AND PFOTE RESIDENT LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER ALSO PFOTE A&B ARE FOR GUYS AND C&D ARE FOR GIRLS.

I was accepted to FAMU and I’m sending in my housing deposit today, how long does it take to hear back from them?

It took me two months… but since its closer to fall term it might go through quicker… you can always check the information online.

cdames, no mean to pry but did you choose FAMU over UF?

The fall housing deposit was due on the 1st of June.

@abdc11 yes I did.

@momo:I was accepted after that date so how can that be possible?

@quina that’s weird on my packet and on the website it said fall housing deposit were due on June 1st…Oh well glad to see you got in!!

@cdames, can i ask why’d you pick famu over uf?

@abdc ugh i know i answered this question before and my response was long. In short I reieved more money at famu. Getting into the pharmacy school through the 6 year program is easier to than it is at UF. Also the population is smaller. So im not forced to take online classes becasue the classes are full. If I find my post I will copy and paste it

its not exactly the answer to your question but its similar in a sense:

In my opinion you should go to FAMU, If you maintain a 2.75 in all your prerequisite you are admitted into their pharmacy school. Plus you dont have to take the PCAT like you do to apply to other pharmacy schools (it can be very competitive). If your not doing Pharmacy/Business/Engineering then no, it is not the best school to attend. And yes it has had accreditation problems (with money management, not education) in the PAST…

Also, I think what school you graduate from does not look as well as your NAPLEX test scores… You can go to an Ivy school and do average on a standardized test for your major but a person who does very well on that same test from a tier 1-3 school will have a better chance of getting the career that they want… Where ever you decide to go what you put into your education is what you will get out of it…

I like FSU too, its just that they don’t have a pharmacy school, and I don’t like the whole idea of transferring because If you don’t get in your kinda stuck…

I would look at this forum: FAMU or UF | Pre-Pharmacy | Student Doctor Network

and read other peoples views from both sides of the fence who know what they are talking about…

that makes sense. i’m applying to both UF, FAMU, and USF, and I’ll prob. just be going to the one where I get the most financial aid. but of course, UF is my dream. FAMU wouldn’t seem to bad either…

@abdc11 go wherever you would like to. Too me my finances were very important on my list. After visiting FAMU and talking to current student I feel like I made an excellent choice and I’m looking forward to my next six years there :)
