PAE minimums

Does anyone know the minimums for the new PAE for USNA and USMA for the class of 2010? Is this a Pass/Fail test?

Scottl -

As of 3 weeks ago, they were not available (according to an USMA rep), but were due to be published shortly. I'm sure they are working against the summer seminar timing.

If you go to the USAFA site, you can get directional targets (they give midpoints for a recent entering class). I haven't seen anything that suggests how they will score this - as pass/fail by event, or as cumulative pass/fail, or as a sliding scale.

Anyone that gets good information, please post.

I think its a pass/fail thing, but I don't know how recently the website I saw that on was updated. Googling it will give you a rough idea of what's expected of you, though.

the PAE is pass fail'

The OLD PAE standers were
8 pull ups
50ish push ups
59 second 300 yard shuttle run
66ft kneeling basketball throw
7'4 standing long jump

these were the minmum for the guys.... not sure about the girls, and the word is that there's a new PAE, getting rid of a few events... adding sit ups.... trying to make it closer to the PFT that the cadets have to take.

The PAE is pass fail, but do the best you can on it... b/c your score is on a points system, which means, the better you do the more it will help you out on the admissions process

What actually constitutes a push up? Is it nose on the ground, body nearly to the floor? Sit-up? Arms to chest, touching legs on the rise? Thanks

arms have to be 90 degrees

for summer seminar they made your partner take off their shoe and you had to go down and touch your chest to the shoe and go all the way up. i don't know if thats how they do it for the prt.

Stupid question, but...

Is that foot flat on the floor (so a 2" height), or on its heel (up to a 12" height)?

the shoe was flat on its sole not on the heel.

are the PAE's the same for all academies? i DLed AFA's but it was different than WPs, is this just not updated? what exactly is going on?

It will be the same set of tests for all (at least USNA, USAFA, USMA). WP just hasn't updated.

The unofficial word is that the standard will be the same as well, but this hasn't been confirmed.

I thought the PAE the USNA gave midshipmen while at the Academy consisted of push-ups, sit-ups, touching your toes, and a 1.5 mile run. Is this incorrect?

the PAE (Physical Aptitude Test no longer exists). It was the old test used for admission to the service academies, however, each academy help different standards. The CFA is the new physical test for admissions to the academies, and it is uniform for all of them. It consits of basketball throw, pull ups, shuttle run, sit-ups, pushups and a mile. The PRT (physcial readiness test) is the which exam that mids must pass i a few times a year at the academy. It consits of push-ups, sit-ups, touching your toes, and 1.5 mile run.
