PAE question

Any girls out there already take the PAE and have an appointment or LOA? What did you guys get on the different events? I'm needing to go take mine, like YESTERDAY, but I'm kinda nervous......

here are my scores. i got my appoinment in nov.

mile 8:47
bball throw 39 ft
shuttle 10.9 seconds ( i think)
push ups 36
sit ups 95
hang 27 seconds

hope that helps

Thanks! It does! I was really worried about not being able to do the pull-up. I've been trying for AGES but I just can't seem to develop those muscles. I can hang for quite a while though, so I feel a little better about doing this.
Congrats on your appointment! Maybe I'll see you there! crosses fingers

Well dont worry about it. i was sooooooo worried and after talking to people i have found it really isnt that hard to pass.... just look at my scores. best of luck! keep us updated! and hopefully ill see u there too!

One more question... The mile run... If I totally like, BOMB that one.. as in 9:30ish... is there a way to compensate that with good pushup/situp/etc. scores? Or is that a pass/fail deal. Thanks again!

don't worry, if you're in decent shape it's not hard to pass, and it's called the CFA now. i think i ran around 7:00 for the mile, 43 pushups, 75 situps, 25 second hang, 9.something for the shuttle, and 30-something for the throw. i passed fine, and got my appointment. just get a good night sleep and give it your all! good luck!

shawna :-)

def. lots of sleep is the key. i slept like 9 hrs then napped before.

I got:
8:40 mile
45 foot basketball throw
31 second arm hang
71 situps
21 pushups
10.2-10.3 shuttle

Hmmm I dont remember my shuttle run or basketball throw but I ran a 6:43 mile, 50 pushups, 60 situps, 2 pull ups. My situps lacked a little so i tried to make it up in other places. Dont be too worried about it, just get a good amount of sleep and give it everything you have. Good luck!

They make you run a mile now on the PAE?

Yep...it's becoming more like the PRT for the Fleet. I guess they were finding a lot of people could pass the PAE, but couldn't run distance worth a darn.

The new test is the CFA, not to be confused with the PAE.

here are my scores

71 pushups
83 situps
24 sec hang
51ft bball throw
10.24 shuttle run
8.44 mile

wildtiger...I was in the same situation with my pullups...i tried so hard and practiced a lot before NASS but I still couldnt manage even 1 pullup..i could only get 3/4 the way up...1 pullup is better then any lenght of time on the arm hang though so try n get that 1!!!

Would appreciate some CFA scores from males who have been appointed to USNA. My son has applied. Thanks!

i'm a girl w/loa & nom, waiting for official appt:

bbal throw: 36 ft
pull ups: 2
shuttle run: 10.0
sit ups: 65?...around there
push ups: 99
mile run: 8:46 (sad, i know :(, but it was the first cold day of the year with winds & a little icy rain :()

usna_aviationgirl thats awesome!!! did the pullups just come to u or how did u work out or practice for them?! I have been working out to just getting one pullup but I cant manage even 1 stinkin pullup. Any suggestions?!

~GINA

steroids would be nice.

hehe, just kidding. i guess you could watch a lot of Rocky movies and your muscles might motivate themselves...

My ROTC unit was invited to the Univ. of Texas to compete in their annual Ironman Competition. As training, I've been doing a lot more full body strength training, and recently started spending 15-20 minutes on a rowing machine. I find it to be one of the best full upper body/back/ab workouts available. Do it everyday and you'll be rockin' that PRT.

OK, my run time was HORRIBLE and I still got an appointment. We did this at NASS and let's just say I wasn't in the best shape...

BB: 33 ft
Pullups: 3
shuttle: ?
situps: 82
pushups: 45 (this was HARD. I got to the 45 and thought my arms would fall off and then they told me that I had to stay up for the whole 2 minutes or i would lose my score so it became just a struggle to stay up, not to eek any more out.)
run: 9.54

I redid it in October, but got my appointment before my CFA scores were processed. Just by practicing I brought my run time down by 1:30 and got to 50 pushups

trust me, i know your pain, at NASS i held on for 5 secs....partially b/c i have an injured shoulder and at NASS i didnt do ANY pushups, thus i took it again. my doc told me it was better not to do any pushups/shoulder strenuous activities so as not to blow the whole thing out & be unable to retake the CFA, or even attend...so yea!

anyways, the 2nd one was totally unexpected, but well appreciated. what i did was everyday about 2-3 (dont remember) weeks before, i went to the park (practially across the street from me :)) everyday with my dad and i would do one with a push from my feet on the monkey bars, take a rest (stretch), and then try to do one on my own (i failed miserably) then my dad would hold my feet & help me do 5 (which was incredibly painful and horrible every single time!) and anytime i saw a bar that was sturdy enough, i tried from a jump & alone. the day i was going to retake my cfa, i knew i could do one, and it would be incredibly painful & difficult, but my dad told me after i did the first one, to explode with whatever was left to get two, which i thought was stupid and to my surprise, i cranked out 2 :)

well, that was way too long!
