I’m not applying to Penn… but I caught a glimpse of this essay question and thought it was interesting. Did you guys assume that it meant roughly 2/3 through your life so far, or where you will be when you are ~50 or so?

Both ways of interpretting it can say alot about you, which did you choose?

Its all in your interpretation, It doesn't necessarily need to be 2/3 or 50 years down the road, they just want a creative version of a point of your life.

i wrote it a year ago

i just picked a different essay topic.

Yeah, me too, everyone does that question because it's the creative option, but it's just so easy to fall into cliches that it isn't worth it

which one did you do? i picked the one about taking risks.

i was going to do the 217 one but there's too much to talk about. and if you put it all down into one page I feel like everyone would have similar essays about accomplishments and stuff. but I also feel like Penn would like anyone who tries the 217 just for trying it.

217 gives freedom... it's basically a topic of your choice, make a story out of it
