Painfully Shy

I was recently accepted to Williams, and I am seriously considering going there. I am slightly worried about studying at a small LAC, however, because I am EXTREMELY shy and have trouble asserting myself in class discussions. I know that LAC's like Williams emphasize student discussion and interaction, and I am terrified that I would end up taking classes filled with uber-confident extroverts. Would I be able to survive at a small school like Williams?

Thank you,
Dan

Don't worry Dan, you will be surrounded by nice people and encouraging profs so i am sure your shyness will gradually erode away:)

One of my friends who was originally an extremely shy and introverted bloke completely changed after a year in Williams.

Dan: I am a parent of an extremely shy child. He has done well at Williams. He doesn't say much in class, but profs have been very encouraging and often engage him in discussions outside of class. He also has no trouble finding classmates to study with in pairs or small groups. I suspect you'll do fine at Williams.

I consider myself a bit shy, and I just sent in my registration to Williams yesterday. So there'll be at least one non-extrovert there next year. :-)
