Painting major at art school in CA

Hi guys, what are some recommendations to art schools in CA that would accept my type of work and help me grow in it. Some of my art can be found here: agutos art

I want to major in painting. So far my teacher recommended me Cal Arts and CCA.

THANKS!

CalArts would suit you. Especially for your character stuff. They're a very experimental school and allow you do do just about anything you want to do. The only thing is, work on putting together your BEST portfolio. CalArts is about a 30% acceptance rate VS. CCA's 60%.

As a person who knows both CalArts and CCA, both are good schools. CCA teaches you the business part of art as well as art itself while CalArts seems to be more art for arts sake oriented and traditional. CalArts is in the boondocks while CCA is in San Francisco, so that might also be a factor.

Definitely call admissions for both schools and check out their emphasis and see which one would suit you more. And apply for both, because one might give you more aid than other.

Check out UCLA. They, not only are a top notch school, but they have a very strong art department.

thanks kaii, that helps a lot!

i know CCA is in sf, but they have an oakland campus and on their website they say thats where most of their undergraduate studios are. does that mean if i went here id be taking most if not all of my classes in oakland?

Everyone starts out on their oakland campus, then sophomore year depending on major either stay or go to san francisco. San francisco has their industrial design and design stuff and oakland is their visual arts/sculpture stuff.
