I got admitted to the School of Art Institute of Chicago, Rhode Island of School of Design, Pratt Institute, and School of Visual Arts. Which school is the most desirable for painting major? Thanks.

By "reputaion" according to USNews, SAIC and RISD would be the strongest of those schools in painting (ranked 2nd and 4th -- for their MFA programs, not BFA), with Pratt and SVA lower down (ranked tied for 18th -- again for their MFA programs). My hunch is you're going to do well with any of these choices. Congratulations!

My daughter graduated from RISD, and not surprisingly she thinks extremely highly of their painting program, and a couple of her closest friends have done amazingly well since then including earning excellent scholarships to spend time in Amsterdam and Berlin for further training and study.

Am familiar with RISD and SAIC. If finances are not an issue and you know you want to focus on painting I would choose RISD of the the two. The calibre of your peers will be higher since they have a far more selective admissions process.

If money is an issue, SAIC gives out a decent amount of merit $$.
