Worth the extra money? Why/why not? I have had it booked since last Summer-logged onto my Hilton app today to shorten the ressie by one day; and vacillated when I saw the option (<$) to a “regular” room. That said-D and her dad (I’m not going) are people who like things simple when it comes to breakfast and snack options, quick elevators, (is it true that there are separate elevators?) etc. I believe their room has 2 bathrooms-which also may add some value
Hi @owensfolks Yes there are separate elevators to the 2 top floors that are considered executive level. My son and I attended Chicago Unified Auditions last year and stayed in a 2 bed 2 bathroom executive level room. Totally worth it imho. He had his space and wasn’t rushed to get ready. It was a pleasure to have food close by especially if the weather was poor. They had bottled water, snacks, breakfast every morning and appetizers at night. There was also a cash bar;) We have returned to stay at Palmer House on several occasions since Unifieds as my son is an MT major at CCPA/Roosevelt University. The hotel is fantastic
Thank you, @theatremom10 . You validate my hunch! The app is trying to get me to essentially cancel the original ressie and rebook for a regular room (Executive Floor isn’t even an option) for MORE $/night-so I have sent Hilton an email and begged for them to just modify the reservation. Upon looking at flights from NC and scheduled audition times, I could shave off 2 nights-and that difference could pay for the airfare.
My D has a former classmate who is at CCPA/Roosevelt for Acting, and he seems SO happy! I hope that all is going well for your guy as well.
Keep the Executive Level! It was so worth it last year. Having access to free drinks and snacks, the breakfast and evening appetizers (which served as dinner a couple of times), the quiet lounges and bigger room - made our stay so much better.
You’re welcome @owensfolks and thank you he’s doing very well! Loves the program:) Hilton should be able to modify the reservation for you. BAL!!
TOTALLY worth it - same as above. It is a great break from the crowds and the free food was clutch (not to mention, the moms/dads can grab a glass of wine and lounge as well). We have two bathrooms this year although I’m not sure that is necessary. You should remind your kids though - many auditors are on the floor so keep that in mind when you are talking about schools, auditions, etc. Better to observe the “10 block rule” or discuss in your room if you have want to make a less-than-flattering remark.
Absolutely—to all of the above.
@artskids, having two bathrooms was awesome—even better than I had thought it would be. D had her space; H and I had ours. Even though it wasn’t necessary, D loved it, and it aided in the relaxation and smooth logistics of the stay.
Also, speaking of what we called the “only in absolute privacy rule” regarding talking about auditions or schools, I’ll admit it was fun to do the reverse: eavesdrop on a couple of conversations of some auditors who were sitting next to us in the lounges and not talking quietly. It was insightful/entertaining. Lol
@myloves I did the same. It was quite insightful! And they are WATCHING AND LISTENING. Make no mistake!
@owensfolks - were you successful with Hilton? I was running into the same problem yesterday afternoon when I wanted to reduce the reservation by one day. I called Hilton directly with my confirmation number and while the rep initially said that he couldn’t rebook at the executive level, reason won out and I was able to keep my same reservation just leaving a day earlier.
Yes, @lots2learn . I emailed them and received a very nice response with confirmation of the change. Yay, for both of us!
