So, I have an interview for Northwestern and the interviewer wants to meet at Panera. I've already done 4 so I know how to behave but I have some random questions: do I order food? I dont wanna run into any awkward food encounters where I'm like eating as she asks me a question. What if she offers to pay? I dont want her to. But I also don't want to seem rude.

It is easier to conduct an interview if you are not eating, I agree with you. If she offers to buy you something, either accept a beverage or just say “No, thanks I just ate” or “No thanks, I am all set”.

Here’s advice I gave before

but DO NOT BUY food! Eat later.

I would get there early and order a beverage only. That way you can be seated by the time she arrives. You are right, food will be a distraction during the interview and “awkward food encounters” are a possibility. When people ask me if they can get me something when I would prefer not to eat, I just tell them I have already eaten. Usually does the trick. Good luck with the interview!
