So I'm going to be going to UCSD next year and was interested in joining a panhellenic sorority but I stumbled upon this browsing online...

Sorority: Kappa Kappa Gamma

Does hazing like this really happen at UCSD for panhellenic sororities?! Reading stuff like that makes me seriously think twice about rushing. Any commentary would be welcome.

Hahaha! That site is a huge joke, and the responses elicited were mostly from frat guys or non-greeks who were trying to be funny. I am in a panhellenic sorority and I was never hazed, not even slightly. I have friends in nearly every other panhellenic sorority and they have assured me they were never hazed either. I’m really sorry you had to read about the thing above, that’s actually really foul and doesn’t make any of us look good! Keep in mind that many of us would lose our charter if our national org’s found out we were hazing, and this is reason enough to not take the risk.

The only greek orgs. on this campus that haze are the asian sororities (in the multicultural greek system), the asian fraternities, and the IFC fraternities do very light hazing, in the form of sober driving, etc. NOTHING as graphic as what you read about on that website.

Panhellenic sororities do not haze. Emily Feinstein, the Panhellenic faculty advisor, takes a VERY strong approach against hazing.
(I’m also in a panhellenic sorority)
