I might just be OCDing, but this is bothering me. I made a little spelling error on my common application. (Hits head with hammer).

Alright, so how much is this really going to kill me on my application. I spelled organizer "oraganizer" in my extracurriculars section. I have no idea what I was doing but I submitted a mistake on my common application to four schools. I'm normally pretty coherent on other things. At least my essay grammar was really good. Any idea what it's going to do to me?

I sent the mistake to Holy Cross, Cornell, Centre College, and Boston U.

If it's just one typo, then you shouldn't stress over it. Most likely they will overlook it, and even if they do notice the mistake it's not like a red flag will go up "Idiot!".

I agree. As long as you haven't mis-spelled the word repeatedly, you'll be all right. I spelled tuition "tution" in describing one of my activites but I don't think it'll come back to bite me as I spelled it properly elsewhere in my application.

Ok... this makes me feel a little better. I just sent an e-mail to a few schools to just see what that say. I really hate wasting the time of these people, but I just wanted to see.

Just remember that admissions officers are people just like you and me. I think that they realize that simple mistakes can be made like that. I really wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's one typo- admissions officers know that too! Just correct it before you send the app to more schools (if you're applying to more) and don't sweat it :)

I just noticed a mispelled word (didn't come up in spell check and is Hebrew) and iTS locked on my common app essay. Truth is, 10 applications with supplements, 30,000 words??? They spend 6 minutes PER FILE. I expect over 70% of applications have some spelling or grammatical error. Think of all the kids hitting "submit" at 11:55 the night before it's due.
