Panic about recommendations.

<p>Could someone explain to me how college recommendations based on the common app work? <p>On that link, it says the recommendation must be from an ACADEMIC teacher... I was planning on asking my band director. Is this the type of recommendation all schools using the common app want (IVY League in particular)? From what I know, people HAVE used recommendations from an elective teacher to apply to a school such as an IVY. How was this done? </p>

<p>Really the best answer you’re going to get is by going to each college’s website and, if that doesn’t have the answer, emailing the admissions committee for each college :)</p>
