I am an OOS applicant and also a DACA student so I pay out of state admission anywhere.
Unweighted GPA: 2.9
Weighted GPA: 3.6
ACT composite: 26

Joined many clubs such as Student Government, Book club, Service Learning club, Volunteer club, Anime club, and Red Cross Youth Club.
I’ve already applied to CSUSB and CSUDH but I was looking into UCR and CSULA.
I know my GPA is terrible btw!!
You need to calculate your UC/CSU GPA. That will include only the so-called a-g requirements. As you are out of state, only AP courses may be weighted, not honors courses. Minimum a-g GPA for UC for out of state is 3.4. Your unweighted GPA exceeds what’s needed for CSU campuses for your ACT score.
Can your family afford out of state costs at UC or CSU?
CSULA is very much a commuter school, certainly not one worth moving across the country to attend. If you have family in the area to stay with, I suppose it’d work, but it seems like a lot of bother and expense for a school that’s not that exceptional.
@SlithyTove Money isnt the problem but yeah that’s why I keep doubting UCR… the admission prices are crazy! I have my eyes set on CSUSB. I dislike it over here in the East coast for my own personal reasons and the fact I pay out of state tuition regardless whether I stay in state or not is what encouraged me to go out of state where I’d want to go. I am aware that CSUSB and CSUDH are commuter schools but it wouldn’t be a problem to make friends. What do you think my chances are of getting into both?
If you calculate your CSU/UC GPA and then your EI(eligibility index) there may be more Cal state options. UCR may be only possible if you meet or exceed the minimum UC GPA of 3.4.
EI= (CSU GPA x800) (ACT composite x10)
Do you want to stay in the LA/ Riverside area or are you willing to look at Cal states in Northern California. What is your intended major?
