Anyone in High School read Paradise Lost yet?

Ummm, well we read Book 1 senior year, and I read up to book 3 before I got tired of it, but yeah, usually you'll read Paradise Lost junior or senior year or at least Book 1 [especially good to read with Dante's Inferno in my opinion]

Yes, most torturous unit I've had to go through. I'm not religious at all, and our teacher is, so the objectiveness of the teaching was questionable.

I've read Inferno and Purgatorio...:D

Yet to read Paradise Lost.

My teacher (who just happens to be a newly christened Evangelical) constantly hounded me while we read this. She wanted me to convert...and warned me that I would probably end up in hell if I didn't. :D I didn't mean to offend her, but I laughed in her face as she said that. No wonder she gave me a B on my analysis. Personally, I hated it.

hehe you coulda gotten that lady in big trouble if you had wanted to....i dun think teachers are allowed to tell you that youre going to hell if you don't convert to their religion

We had to read afew books of it for my class. It was cool... and our discussion of it was great. My English teacher rocked last year.

I think she was just kidding...but a few other students complained about her and she is on probation now, but the union is making a big deal out of it.

Opinions on Paradise Lost seem to have a lot to do with your teacher and the intelligence level of your class. If there is no discussion going, it is hard to be interested in it. I'm looking forward to some Dante though...

Is anyone trying to read it on their own?

It's cool. Dartmouth has it free on their Milton database. Also, I'm sure Bartleby and Guttenberg Press probably all host it as well.
