paralegal before law school??

hi all. i'm 17 years old, turning 18 in july. i am about to get my GED in the near future. i was unable to complete school due to things that were...not in my control lets say. regardless; everyone has their problems. i've decided to go to college next fall.

i live in new orleans louisiana. all of my friends including my girlfriend go to delgado community college. from what i've seen so far, they do not offer any sort of classes that have anything to do with paralegal studies. i would like to become a paralegal because my dream is to become a lawyer. this would be a stepping stone. paralegal for a few years, do the family life thing work thing and go back to law school when i am good and ready.

the work seems interesting to me, lots of fun.

heres my thing though: i'll probably end up having to go to herzing college. its very close, good school from what i hear but it is expensive. like $4k a semester from what i'm told. i don't really care though, i'll take out loans or get financial aid of some sort. i'm poor. LOL.

my big deal is...i'm wondering if i can go for a couple years and get my associates degree in paralegal studies, get a job working as a paralegal and stay in school to get my bachelors in this same field.

does that make any sense? i don't have alot of people to get advice from so i came here.

thanks guys!

I'm currently a freshman in college and have been looking at paralegal work as well. It seems like a great thing to do before applying to law schools. If I were you, however, I'd take some courses at the community college. Most, if not all, law schools, want to see an Associate or Bachelor's degree.
