hi,
i'm new to this board but it looks like people give some good advice. my question relates to SAT IIs. I am applying to very competitive schools, including top ivys but i don't know if my SAT IIs are good enough. Every one that has gotten into these schools has close to perfect scores. I have:
IIc - 750
lit - 740
writing - 780
should i retake? i have a high SAT I (1500+)

The only one there that I would even consider retaking is the IIc 750, but even that's not necessary. The 740 Lit and 780 Writing are outstanding scores, and retaking them might even hurt you.

IMHO, I would only retake if I truly think I can do better. If I got those scores without any prep, I would probably try a little prep with study guides and then retake. Of course, this is coming from a person who spent the entire summer prepping to retake the SATs and ended up scoring 10 points higher. I think your test scores are good and that if the other parts of your applications are strong you will be fine.

easiest way to prep would be to get the 10 real sat 2s book and take practice tests. This way, you see what you need to work on with such short notice and can do a lesson or two to concentrate on these 'problem areas.' I say this assuming that you have already signed up for the tests; if you are planning on going as a standby, I would get a few extra hours of sleep instead!
