My spouse is very concerned about filing online financial aid reports because of potential identity theft. Can the CSS Profile and/or FAFSA be sent as printed forms to the individual colleges? I've already started the online CSS Profile and I am midway through it. Can I change to printed format? Thanks!

Honestly, I would really suggest you do this online. It is a secure sight. The bottom line is that if you need to make changes it takes a TON of time to do so with a paper filing. Also, when filing online, you can do an update the following year which is MUCH easier than doing a paper filing.

Actually, I am a pen-and-paper kind of person and would prefer to do the Profile on paper and then mail it in. Is this possible, as I can find only an online option? I gather you can send in corrections via hardcopy....

If you do the forms on line every thing comes back(including corrections) in approximately 1- 3 days (max) where as pen to the paper and snail mail can drag this out to over 2 weeks. You can always pring them out so that you have a hard copy in your hand

It still is not clear to me whether these forms can be completed and submitted "offline." Again, is it possible to complete them as a not-online submission? I only see an option for completion online? (How do families who do not have a computer at home submit the CSS Profile?)

I know you can pick up the FAFSA at your child's high school guidance office when it becomes available in January. I'm not sure what to tell you about the Profile. Call HS guidance, maybe they will know (since they get the FAFSA, perhaps they get the Profile as well).

Our high school has the FAFSA now as do maybe libraries?
can't submit till jan 1st.
I don't know where else PROFILE would be, can't you just print it online?
The PROFILE is often due long before FAFSA FYI.
I have never had a problem with online transmission of aid forms, I even do my taxes that way.
So much faster to do online and since schools sometime erroneously change your numbers it is good to have online access so you can keep up with your file.
Often teh first ones to get forms filed are the ones to get the most aid, don't wait till the last day to submit.
