Hi! I was wondering if the college admissions website Parchment.com was at all accurate in its "chancing" of students. I understand that it's just an estimate, but I've seen profiles of users who got rejected from schools it said they had a 90+% chance of getting into. Has anyone here had any positive or negative experiences with the website?

You may notice that Parchment is not very holistic. I think that the chancing tool determines an academic index (out of 1000) based on GPA/SAT. For example, my 4.0/2340 computed an index of 930.

The chancing seemed generous, though. Cornell 57%, Harvard 26%, Fordham 100%, etc.

Of course, my ECs are on the modest side, my course rigor may be questionable, and I may be rejected from every school I apply to. For numbers-based admissions, Parchment is probably spot-on, but for holistic evaluations, I would not be very confident.

To put your mind at ease, however, each school on Parchment has a error percentile. They are 74 to 80% accurate most of the time.

Hope this helped! :)
