I really wanted to know what admissions officials will think if they see that you have written about your mom or dad as an inspirational person (I believe this is prompt #3 for the Common Application). I do not think that there is any doubt that parents have been the most or at least very inspirational, but is it very cliche? In other words, is it ok for me, let's say, to write about my dad, or is it too common?

I just think it is hard to do well. If you can keep personality to a minimum, cuteness at bay, idolization in check and focus on one lesson learned, perhaps… good luck!
