i posted this on the SPS thread but i just found out that a fp legacy kid admitted is not going. Father said he can't sign up for 200k with other sibs still in private day school. this is quite a shock to me as father is from what is known to be a wealthy family and truly loves SPS. Any other similar stories out there?

That’s just mean. You make your kid go through allll that…just to say you can’t pay for it. I’d rather them just be straight forward. I mean how much could have possibly changed in a few months…the economy has been horrible for awhile now.

^mpicz, what I found most mean about it was that his sibling goes to private school… :(… His dad should have told him in October, not as if the % drop has been anything close to the magnitude of the meltdown.

I wish him the best! Tell him some random guy on this internet forum told you so :)

mpicz, it is not mean, it is sad. i assure you the parent is agonizing over this more than the kid. How much could things have changed in a few months? more than you kids can imagine.

I agree, sorry for that comment. I would hate so much for that to happen. The economy seems to be picking up (kind of?) in the last few days. Does not mean much though. I still think it is kind of wrong to put one kid in private day and say you cannot afford BS for the other…

I agree, catg. A lot can happen in a few months financially, especially if dad works in the financial sector (bonuses typically paid in February). I agree that this family deserves our sympathy, not our derision.

the sps admit is already in private school. all the kids are and will stay there. It is just that bs is another 25k a year.

I hope the Dad can save some money for a junior year admit.

skafe, it would be interesting to know what % of applicants work in financial services. I am sure it is quite large.

Again, pricipleviola, finances count. BS typically cost TWICE as much as private day school (200K to 100K?)

Ohh I see. I thought that the one who will not be going to SPS is in piblic and his sibling is in private. Thanks for clearing that up!
