parent employees

my mother is a professor at ucla...does this make me a shoo-in if i have decent scores?

I think having parents at a UC waives the tuition, but doesn't guarantee admissions (unlike private schools)

peppers do you know where i could find more information about waiving tuition?

no, it doesn't help at all

i think your mother would have better answers to these questions than us, or at least she would know exactly who to talk to.

I don't have more information on waiving tuition, like a website or anything. For that, I would imagine the schools explain that in employer contracts and such. Its just that my friends told me about it since their parents work at UCSD. I thought they'd get special treatment too, until they explained that it doesn't work that way and that all that happens is tuition gets waived (if employees have lower incomes working for UC, I think they'd HAVE to make that accommodation :) ).

It would seem kind of far fetched if they granted admissions automatically to employees, like something extremely devoted parents would do to ensure their children into the most selective public schools in the nation.
