parent is starting to get antsy

Hey, kid starts college in fall. he has ADHD, Has done well in high school so getting admitted has not been an issue. However, i am wondering where to let go and where to still help. if ADHD were not involved, i'd likely step back and let him handle everything himself. i know this varies by kid but any recommendations from parents or fellow ADHD kids on this issue. also, will colleges allow for 90 day prescriptions of ADHD meds? that would be a lot less out of pocket costs for us due to our insurance coverage. unfortunately, his psychiatrist just retired and we are having trouble finding new practitioner willing to prescribe ADHS meds, probably due to abuse in his age bracket, i am concerned that when he gets to college, this could be even bigger problem. where we live is notoriously bad for medical care BTW and he is moving to a city so care for ADHD folks may actually be better in the city, although I forsee it could be a pain on campus. anyway, any real world info people have is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Colleges do not give out or store meds. He will have to do that on his own and keep them stored in his dorm. DDs doc gives her three 30 day scripts at each appointment which she fills monthly at a pharmacy near campus.

thanks. Student health services at his school will allow him to meet with one of their docs and get prescriptions through student health services on campus. i don’t know if they are leery about ADHD issues though. I guess another question for orientation. how has your D adjusted to college?
