Parent Weekend

Any other CC’ers going? Maybe a quick hi on campus? I am coming up, as well as my mom from Arizona, a nice 3 generation girl get-together.

Off to buy a coat tomorrow!

You lucky thing. Have a great time!

This is the first year that I can’t attend because of a conflict with a professional commitment. Have a great time.

Another mom from GA ~ Wish we could go, but DH and I will be in Hawaii (a work sponsored trip…I’m not complaining LOL). My DS is a freshman. I think I’m going to try to go up the weekend after to see him perform in MidSummer Nights Dream. Then he and I can spend some time together as well. Of course he comes home a week later…

We will be going. For us, it’s a 1.5 hour drive but I’m looking forward to it.

I don’t usually participate in the forums but appreciated this inquiry. CC individuals have been really helpful to me and my daughter in the past – so thank you! (Esp you LMPW!) I wanted to share what we did this time around regarding a visit.

My husband and I decided to travel to Amherst earlier this year for two reasons: we wanted to give our West Coast daughter a chance to travel a bit through Boston and Cambridge with us (a first for all three) and we wanted to meet, talk, and dine with her friends. So we actually met up with her over fall break, left mid-day Friday and returned on Monday (no classes). It was great – we arrived a couple days earlier and chatted with two of her favorite professors. Weather was fantastic, evidence of seasons, students were a bit more relaxed given the extra day associated with their “break.”

We learned that many kids are with their parents on Parent Weekends (naturally) so longer conversations can be a bit harder. But I still find myself wishing I could attend the events associated with parent’s weekend and meet more Amherst parents :(.

Have great fun! With you in spirit!
