my dad is an employee for an ivy league univeristy

ive been told that this isnt to my advantage.

before he started to work there about a year ago, ive wanted to go here, yet now im a bit shaken because will this hurt my chances since he works there?

i’ve actually heard that is false. having a parent work at the university that you are applying to actually somewhat helps. granted it isn’t like, your a gang person and your dad works for Harvard you can get in. you still have to be qualified, but it can help give you a slight edge.

hahah, yeaa its def. not harvard.
im not even applying there anyways.
and im not a gang person either
yea im confused b.c. people are saying its not an advantage so i was confused. thanks!

I’m not sure about an advantage or not in admissions but usually a big advantage in tuition if your admitted. Children of staff often get great breaks on tuition at the school or other schools that they have a reciprocal agreement with.
