Is anyone having a problem with the parental consent section of the NMF application? My S put my email address in the space provided yet no email is showing up in my inbox. We tried it using Internet Explorer and Firefox. Any ideas?

Junk Mail? Spam Filter?

A couple thoughts (we’re still waiting on password from school to do the NMS stuff, so this is just general computer thought…) 1.) Have you checked your spamblocker in your email? Sometimes, the mail I really want is safely sitting in my junk mail box, “thoughtfully” put there by my email client… 2.) If you’re working on this over the weekend, it’s possible that this goes to a “real live” person at NMS, who has to confirm your son’s semifinalist status before shooting the email to you. (And Monday is a holiday.) 3.) Computers are glitchy, and since this is the first time (I believe) that NMS has used an online system for the process, they may be still working out bugs. Just some thoughts…now if we could just get guidance at our end to do their part, so kiddo could have her password and get started, I’d be able to actually see what you’re talking about!

Checked spam - not there.

The parental consent email worked for me an hour ago. My daughter used Internet Explorer.

Mine isn’t working either! I’ve tried it on Safari and Internet Explorer. It’s not in spam and I’ve tried “marking as complete” several times. My school doesn’t require the student portion until Monday the 13th so I guess I’ll just bring in the paper consent. It’s a little frustrating, though.

Wow…must be a glitch in the system. Daughter’s came to me pretty much instantly. I wonder if it’s an email client thing? Did you try a different email address (maybe even create a hotmail or yahoo address?

Both our GC and I spoke to the NM folks since several students in my S’s school had the same problem. They said they were aware of the problem and suggested to go with the paper route. Since is NM’s first time doing this online, you have to give them kudos if this is the only glitch. Mommafrog - I did think it might be an AOL thing, but I was not going to open a new email address just to find out since there was an easy alternative solution. At least this is done. Now to refocus on apps.

Mine wasn’t working either, even though it kept issuing the message that the email was sent. I tried another email address (this one happened to be yahoo) and it was received immediately.

Was the non-working one AOL? Which browser did you use? I tried 3 email addresses but they were all AOL. I was not going to set up a new one for this purpose.

I tried firefox and IE when it wasn’t working. With both, I was receiving the message that the email was sent but it never went to the email address I was using.

The email address that did not work was a roadrunner ID. Email is accessed through a web interface (not a mail program which downloads) and any spam is sent to a junk folder - it wasn’t there.

When I changed the email address to a yahoo ID (I happened to be using firefox), the email was received immediately.

I don’t know what the problem is, but it sure doesn’t appear to be a browser issue.

It’s Roadrunner. We didn’t get the e-mail, so we changed to my work e-mail address, and it showed up in less than ten seconds.

My AOL address didn’t work either, so I had it sent to work as well, and got it immediately.
