If you found a safety that you like that costs less than the commuter school after automatic merit scholarships, would your parents accept you going there instead of the commuter school?
Probably, but since the commuter school would be <$10k & they want me to stay in the NE (maybe barring Stanford), it would honestly have to be an automatic full-ride, which definitely isn’t easy to come by in my region. @ucbalumnus
Ok, it looks like another parental desire is “close to home”, and the commuter school would be the optimal school for that, in addition to being very low cost (although they are probably not accounting for your consumption of food and utilities and home and commuting costs, which are non-zero, though typically less than living in a dorm or on your own in off-campus housing).
Are there any other parental desires that you have not mentioned yet?
I don’t believe so. We’re Jewish so not looking for anything religiously affiliated, though I don’t know if that’s an issue here. @ucbalumnus
