Is it necessary to fill in all details in this section? I only filled out my parents' names, parent type, employment. May I leave out occupation/title, work location, and employer name?

I don't want that information to possibly negatively impact my chances at becoming a Finalist...thanks so much!

The reason they ask for employer name is if your parent works for one of the corporate sponsors of awards – some employers give guaranteed, some competitive (applications, etc) awards to the children of their employees. Neither my husband nor I work for one of these corporate sponsors. D went ahead and filled out the info, just as she was doing her form.

If your parents don’t work for any of the list of corporate sponsors, probably not a biggie. Perhaps one of the experts can weigh in here.

I wasn’t asked this on my test today… Hmm

???

Your parents’ professions will not hurt your chances for making NMF in any way. As said above, they’re determining whether you qualify for a corporate award.

Keep in mind that Chelsea Clinton was a NMF…and guess what she had to put as her dad’s profession?

the question isn’t on the PSAT…it’s on the NMSF paperwork.
