<p>Be aware that any outside scholarships you receive for school will most likely result in the school reducing the amount of aid that would be given. Ex: the school offers you a $5000 grant. You then get $3000 in outside scholarships. The school then lowers the grant to just $2000. So, some people find that getting outside scholarships doesn’t really help them afford the family contribution since it just cuts into any aid they would have received instead. There are some schools that allow outside scholarships to help toward the fam. contribution, but not as many as don’t…be prepared for this.</p>
