Hi:

Im an incoming Freshman, Fall 2011 from Miami FL. Signed up for CALS orientation on July 27-28. Being that we're making the road trip from MIA to NC for my move-in date in August didnt want my parents to have to spend money on air fare to take me to orientation.

Would it be weird if I was on my own ?? :

No, it won’t be weird. There will be others there without parents. My S attended his orientation at NCSU alone. We are instate. He caught a ride to NCSU with a high school classmate. She was attending without her parents also.

Hi:
Not weird at all…alot of students do the same and come by themselves. Back in the Reagan era, I attended Freshman Orientation on my own. I don’t even recall if parents were invited. Congratulations on your acceptance and choice to come to NCSU!

As I recall from a couple of years ago most of the schedule was separate for the parents and students. You will be not be the odd man out without your parents attending.

My D is from Maryland and she is attending orientation alone. The parents’ orientation is separate from the kids and it’s optional.

I’m sure you’ll be fine. I’m from Tampa,Fl which is about 4 hours North of you and I fell ya on the long drive up, but my mom insists on going! I’m also attending CALS orientation the 27th to the 28th!

It should be no problem. Funnily enough, I live <15 minutes from NC State and my mom didn’t come to my orientation because I didn’t want her to have to skip work. It’s honestly not that big of a deal…
