After applying to one school, can I change the amount of parents' contribution in the CSS profile depending on the other schools that I apply to? Thank you very much!

The CSS must be filled out legally, which means providing correct information. How would it vary for individual schools?

You can change it each time you are sending to a new school. If you are talking about the question where they ask how much your parrents can pay, we struggled with that too. You want to get as much aid as you can, but we knew we could not put zero. We put a number lower than our EFC. I don’t know why it would matter much except for a need aware school you might want to say you can pay more.

KKmama, the market value of investment changes every day. Each school has different deadline. My understanding is that you should provide value of the investment close to the day you submit the CSS. Correct me if I am wrong.

OP, no one believes that the question about parent contribution matters very much…it’s not about what they are willing to contribute and more about the the college says parents must contribute. Some data fields you can’t even change on the profile, so if for some reason you want to change that parent contribution and you are able, you certainly could, but very few people on these threads thinks it matters much what is in that question field.

txhandan: my bad. I live paycheck to paycheck and forget that there are people with large portfolios and money that can be invested.
