Parents' Day ("Family Weekend") Sept. 28-30

I notice that Parents' Day (aka "Family Weekend") is set for Sept. 28-30, with a detailed schedule of events to be issued in August. [See http://www.wm.edu/studentaffairs/familyweekend/ and www.wmparents.com .]Does that seem early, only four weeks after orientation? (I know that's the way the College does it, and I guess it works, but that's not very long for freshman to get acclimated before seeing Mom and Dad again.)

I was surprised it was so early...four weeks after orientation and two weeks before the October break. Good to know, however, for making hotel reservations before the rush.

I didn't realize it was so soon. However, told my daughter I WASN'T coming parents' weekend...too many crowds. We'd hit a home football game either before or after that weekend. However, my sister lives in Richmond...is coming down for parents' weekend.

My daughter's coming home...she doesn't want to miss the Air Force/Navy game (her brother's a senior at the Naval Academy) We just bought our tickets to the W&M/James Madison so we'll do our own family weekend in November

I love the Naval Academy, atrmom. Boys used to wrestling there at tournaments. Sounds like your children have achieved success, at W&M and NA.

End of September seems about right for Family Weekend. Not sure why it seems to be the common date... maybe to alleviate new parents' fears about how their child is faring in a new environment?

Maybe the weather is still great in September? Not often, but some years, October can get real cold!

thanks momray (I've been out of town). They both worked hard through high school...definitely took after their dad and NOT their mom!!
